I came to Marsha Fenwick back in December of 2024 on a recommendation from a close friend. I had been diagnosed a couple of years ago with IBS and had been dealing with digestive issues up until I approached Marsha. I wanted to find a way to eliminate the stomach problems by eating cleaner and healthier and in doing so feel better overall and lower some weight as well. Marsha helped me to believe that all of these things were achievable if I was willing to make the changes necessary in my lifestyle and eating habits by taking her advice and applying her knowledge and expertise.
Marsha was very comprehensive in her approach. Right from the beginning she tailored her approach and the pace that we worked at based on what I wanted to achieve and the pace within which I wanted to achieve it. I was nervous and a bit skeptical at first and was concerned that she would be recommending eating foods that I would have no interest in and would be radical in her approach. In actual fact Marsh’s recommendations and her approach we’re not radical at all and were more based on common sense about what is and isn’t good for you when it comes to foods that are available to eat. Her approach was gradual enough for me to feel comfortable but incremental enough for me to make a difference in my diet, lifestyle and overall health and well being.
She explained what kinds of foods needed to be eaten with what other kinds of foods in order to achieve optimal nutrient intake. She provided suggestions, options and recipes that would enable me to plan and prepare the right foods to eat. While I Incorporated many of the foods that she recommended I must admit that I did not use the recipes at all. I am sure many of them are excellent and delicious I’m just not the biggest risk taker when it comes to cooking. Marsha most importantly motivated me to start walking right past the junk isles in the grocery store and stop eating so many processed foods and refined carbs that were messing up my digestion, zapping my energy and adding on excess weight and instead start loading up on fish, chicken, cooked veggies and avocado. Thanks to Marcia the avocado has become a staple in my diet.
I also learned that the chemicals and additives in processed foods are highly inflammatory and were causing many of my digestive problems as well as many of the diseases that are prevalent in North American society. I eat far less processed food than I used to eat before I started to work with Marsha.
Lastly, I was able to learn to limit snacks but to snack in a healthy manner with things like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and nuts rather than junk food and sweets. Marshall will tell you that snacks are for kids. I don’t agree but at least I snack a lot healthier than I used to. 😉
I would highly recommend working with Marsha Fenwick if you are motivated and willing to take charge of you health and partner with someone who truly understands nutrition and the impact that food has on your health and welfare. The first step starts with you wanting to create positive change, but once you make that decision Marsha is an excellent person to partner with on your journey!
