Delicious and Nutritious Turkey Burger

The zucchini in this Turkey Burger is what makes it so juicy. All you need to do is add your favourite toppings!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 oz grated zucchini
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup panko or gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 tbsp grated red onion
  • 1 tsp kosher salt and fresh pepper
  • oil spray
Turkey burger

PREPARATION:

  1. Squeeze ALL the moisture from the zucchini with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, zucchini, panko, garlic, onion, salt and pepper.
  3. Make 5 patties, approximately 5 ounces each and not too thick, so they cook in the center.

STOVE TOP DIRECTIONS

Heat a large nonstick skillet on high heat. When hot, lightly spray oil. Add burgers to the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook on one side until browned, then flip. Flip over a few times to prevent burning and to make sure the burgers are cooked all the way through.

GRILLING DIRECTIONS

Clean grill well before cooking and spray with oil spray to prevent sticking. Cook the burgers on medium heat about 5 minutes on each side, or until no longer pink in the center

MARSHA’S TIPS:

One of the best tricks I have learned is to prepare the burgers ahead and keep in refrigerator in order to hold their shape. They can also be kept frozen.
