Healing Bone Broth

A nourishing bone broth that can be made on the stovetop or in a slow cooker. Drink this healing bone broth daily as a tonic, as desired. See recipe below.

Bone broth supports bone health in several ways:

1. Rich in Collagen and Gelatin
Bone broth is packed with collagen, which provides the structural foundation for bones, joints, and connective tissues. When collagen is broken down, it forms gelatin, which supports cartilage health and may help reduce joint pain.

2. High in Minerals for Bone Strength
Bones require essential minerals to maintain density and strength. Bone broth contains:

  • Calcium – Crucial for bone density.
  • Magnesium – Helps regulate calcium absorption and supports bone formation.
  • Phosphorus – Works with calcium to strengthen bones.

3. Provides Amino Acids for Bone Repair
Bone broth contains amino acids like glycine, proline, and glutamine, which support bone and joint repair, reduce inflammation, and enhance collagen production.

4. Supports Gut Health, Which Affects Bone Health
A healthy gut improves nutrient absorption. Since bone broth is rich in glutamine, it strengthens the gut lining, ensuring better absorption of calcium, magnesium, and other bone-building nutrients.

5. Helps Reduce Inflammation
Chronic inflammation can weaken bones. Bone broth contains anti-inflammatory compounds like chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid, which help protect joints and may prevent bone loss.

6. May Improve Joint Health and Mobility
For those with osteoporosis or arthritis, the collagen and minerals in bone broth may help reduce stiffness and improve joint function.

Prep Time 30 min | Cook Time 8-12 hrs

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg marrow bones – organic grass fed marrow bones from beef, poultry or fish
  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 12 cups filtered water (minimum enough to cover bones)
  • Vegetables – carrots, celery leek, onions, parsley as desired

Directions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a large stockpot and bring to the boil (make sure the bones are covered; if not, add more water)
  2. Once it reaches boiling point, cover the pot, turn the heat down and simmer for anywhere between 8 -12 hours. The longer it is cooked for the more nutrients, minerals and collagen you will draw out of the bones. Continue to top broth up with more water if it slowly boils off.
  3. Add desired vegetables for the last hour for more flavor and nutrients.
  4. Turn the heat off, let the stock cool.

Tip:
Can be frozen in an ice cube tray or glass container or left in the fridge for up to 4 days.
