Living Dairy Free

I’m not your typical nutritionist. I began my 20 year career in healthcare as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, caring for prematurely born children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and with adults at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. I continued my studies and earned my certifications as a Registered Nutritional Consultant Practitioner, Certified Nutritional Practitioner, and Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner. I am also a Certified Cancer Coach and have a clinical practice which specializes in sustainable healthy weight loss, digestive health, women’s hormones, diabetes, heart health, and cancer prevention and recovery.

I am very excited to be part of the Yoso community. I have been recommending and enjoying Yoso products to my family and clients for almost 5 years. I believe that Yoso products provide nutrient dense, quality ingredients, and a delicious and creamy taste. These are the key elements to enjoying and digesting our food as fuel.

Yoso asked a few questions about Marsha’s dairy-free lifestyle as part of their series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I am primarily dairy free which is beneficial for digestive health and inflammation. I do not have a lactose allergy however, like many of my clients, I am dairy intolerant. I no longer experience gas or bloating since I have eliminated most dairy products from my diet. These symptoms are common among individuals with not only true allergies but also sensitivities or intolerance. Milk products contain lactose, casein and whey so there can be issues associated with inadequate protein digestion, inability to break down sugar and carbohydrates fully, and imbalances with gut bacteria. Some other benefits associated with removal of dairy may include decrease in respiratory tract mucus and secretions related to chronic sinus symptoms.

As a clinical nutritionist, I work with individuals by creating sustainable nutritional protocols to improve their health through the power of food.
